The last day of 2014! In my area it is bitterly cold, windy, but fairly bright — although at last glance the sky appears to be somewhat darkening. Hopefully all will be well for the festivities of the evening as all is not celebrated indoors with warmth all about. In Niagara area the largest New Year’s Eve bash is celebrated outdoors by the Falls, and for those ringing in 2015 there I wish them a fun-filled time and warmth wherever they may find it. The crowds are huge, so hopefully body heat will be abundant. Will be fine for those within the group — those on the outer ring may find their feet stomping faster than usual — but here’s hoping each and every one has a fine old time.

The entire holiday season for me has been a bust, really, as I have been under the weather and will be doing my New Year’s celebrating from the warmth of my loft, and possibly my bed. So many people are fighting colds and doing their best to stay at least one step ahead of the nasty virus’ that continue to plague whomever they can capture. To all those included in this circle I wish to say that better days are ahead, and so we shall endure with stellar hope they will soon materialize.

This past year has seen a lot of changes professionally, both good and bad, and I can apply that to myself, as well. I had some great months and events throughout the year, very much enjoyed Joe Crawford of The Joe Show Live’s exciting online radio interview with me in early spring ( it was such a hoot ), recording my three-part audio-video series,’An Evening with Rusty Blackwood’ with internet-radio host Don McCauley, and Wendy Byng’s enormous AVON Xmas Bazaar in November, but I believe the over-all highlight was the month of June, Literary month throughout Niagara, with none-stop venues at every glance and stop. Such a good time all around with such talented writers, poets, artists, and musicians everywhere. I met some fine people, got to share the stage and spotlight numerous times, and made some wonderful friends along the way. I so look forward to repeating it.

Now that the holiday season is drawing to a close I look forward to settling back before my keyboard and resuming work once again. Pieces do not write themselves, and I have multiple ideas, characters demanding a spotlight, and new avenues to pursue with all of it. For those who write, I believe the idea of creating that next searing scenario is such an exciting adventure, and one that is approached with drive and vigor — at least it is for me.

I’ve had a lot of requests for an ongoing series, but I haven’t quite decided on that because there are always other areas waiting for attention, and I don’t like to tie myself down to one main character or story-line, but we shall see. With me, anything is possible, and what will be will be. I have thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful time surrounding my star-crossed soul mates, Joy and Cully, and the story of ‘Passions/Revelations’, and there are times I wish I was back at the beginning of that intriguing saga, but one cannot forever stay where one might wish to. And so I move on to new horizons in the writing field, new poetry, and look forward to the release of ‘Willow’s Walk’ in the spring. I’m enjoying this story very much, but I sometimes wonder if I will ever leave Joy, Cully, and the rest of the Passions ensemble behind. When you write, the characters you create spring not only from your imagination, but from your heart. They also have an uncanny way of consuming it for all time.

I wish to thank all those who have, and continue to support not only ‘Passions in Paris’, but all my work, and on that note I shall close this year-end retrospect.

A safe, and Happy New Year to each and every one. May it be filled with prosperity, the best of health and happiness, peace and love.

Cheers!
Rusty.
