Hello everyone! I cannot believe we are one day away from this month’s end. It is the shortest month of the year, granted, but it often feels the longest. We usually have snow up to the waist of our “long johns”, and are fighting a constant battle with icy roads, and all round inclement weather. But this February has been a fine month weather-wise. It’s certainly not been like a typical February, very little, if any snow, well above seasonal temperatures, and totally enjoyable. One week ago yesterday, my eldest granddaughter did an outdoor Easter photo shoot of my youngest granddaughter and my great grandson, and they were able to enjoy the outdoor setting without need of coats! As Easter grows closer, I shall be sharing a few of these creative pictures, and now on with the February news!

What did everyone do for Valentine’s Day? Hopefully it was spent exactly the way you wanted, and each of you enjoyed the beauty it often brings. I celebrated the yearly day of love with a special promotion on Amazon for the Kindle version of my 5-star award-winning romantic fiction drama, “Willow’s Walk”. The Kindle version of this riveting story was available for $0.99 throughout Valentine’s Day, and I wish to thank those who supported this promotion through sharing it, talking about it, liking it as well as purchasing it. I once again apologize to my Canadian readers as the promotion was only available on Amazon.com and Amazon UK. At present, promotional offers of this kind are not available nor offered by Amazon to its Canadian site, which as far as I’m concerned, is totally unacceptable. I have brought this to their attention, and have lodged an official complaint. There is no acceptable excuse for this rule, and like all rules, are made for adjustment. I urge all Canadian readers to lodge complaints to Amazon on behalf of this idiotic rule. They inform me that it is being looked into, and they hope that the problem can be rectified in the near future. We’ll see, but a bit of pressure never hurts.

I have stated many times the importance of professional Press Releases. They are not only a boost to an author’s professional credibility, they are a must to the reader’s awareness of the author, especially Indie authors of whom do not have a Standard House behind them with regard to bringing awareness to their work. Therefore this must be obtained through a professional marketing rep & publicist who knows the business, and can guide you along. For going on seven years, I have been fortunate to work with one of the best, and I hope my association with him will continue for many years to come. Readers are always looking forward to new work, but an author continues to promote earlier work as well as what is now, and what is coming. In 2013 I released the grand scale, 4-star romantic fiction drama, “Passions in Paris: Revelations of a Lost Diary”. This romantic drama took me ten years to write and is still my favorite piece of work. I have many poems that I classify as favorites, but as far as a full-length novel goes, Passions remains my favorite. I recently re-listed an interview conducted by The Indie View which was released on September 5, 2013, and you may check it out by taking this link: https://rusty-blackwood.com/indieview-with-rusty-blackwood-author-of-passions-in-paris/

I am pleased to announce that work slowly, but diligently, continues on my upcoming romantic fiction drama, “The Perils of Autumn”. This novel tends more to the dramatic side, but I am excited with the story it tells. I have always loved horses, used to ride in my youth though I never rode professionally – it would have been great – but it wasn’t to happen, but the fascination of the sport, combined with the adoration for horses, was the inspiration for this tale set at Landon Lawns Stables, a fictional thoroughbred equestrian center, located just outside Lexington Kentucky, in an area known as The Meadows.

The bold and daring Duff Taylor now finds himself top jockey at Landon Lawns Stables, and living the life of wealth in the posh suite above the main tack room. Arrogance, accompanied with a vile temper precedes him, and he unfortunately likes to use his riding crop more than he should, and not just on horses. He also has a secret; one that he will do anything to keep under wraps. He has become accustomed to his life style, his standing in equestrian circles, as well as among the ladies. This lifestyle has made him interesting to others; one in particular.

The words within this above image mean more than one can imagine. An Indie author is solely dependent on a reader’s support through purchase of work, word of mouth to friends and other readers, and writing reviews of said work. This is how a title gets known and considered by other readers to try. I cannot encourage this enough, and I hope my encouragement will entice those who have not done so, to write a review of my work of which they have read. It need not be a book in itself, an essay or even a paragraph, though an over-all review is always nice, but a few words carry more weight than you may be aware. I hope you will.

As another month comes to a close, I would again like to thank everyone for your ongoing support, and I encourage you to continue to support your local authors, as well as all your local talent in the Arts. Remember, those that have become household names where once unknown in their field; that is until someone gave them a chance. I thank you, and look forward to chatting with you again next month.

Cheers!

Rusty B.
