Rusty Shares Her October Newsletter …

Welcome to my October Newsletter!

The month of spooks, goblins and spirits is almost finishing with the grand finale happening on Saturday, October 31st! October has always been my favourite month of the year. I simply adore it, even with its often-dreary weather. When I was a child, back in south-western Ontario, I can remember walking with my friends in a skiff of snow as we visited the houses throughout the neighbourhood. I even based my children’s story, The Happening in the Hollow, from Through the Eyes of Innocence, on a spooky Halloween walk past an old eerie swamp located between my house, and my best friend’s house. It was especially creepy if the moon happened to be full, as you can imagine, yet it added to the thrill of an old-fashioned Halloween night. I’m sure this time of year brings childhood memories to all of us.

As nothing is yet happening in the literary world of public & local events, except for online events, this Newsletter will be a bit different. I hope you had a chance to check out The Perils of Autumn’s latest feature that happened on October 6th, and for seven days there after on Pretty Hot, and its assorted social media. For those who missed it, you can catch it here: https://rusty-blackwood.com/pretty-hot-features-the-perils-of-autumn/ This 5-star-award-winning romantic drama is to be featured next on November 9th, and for seven days thereafter on Book Reader Magazine. The URL for this site is https://bookreadermagazine.com/ so I invite you on November 9th to check out Autumn’s feature, as well as some other fine titles from very talented independent authors. I thank you in advance.

It’s always nice to do a review and catchup of previous titles leading up to my latest. I begin with my Amazon 4-star awarded romance drama, Passions in Paris: Revelations of a Lost Diary.

A forgotten diary, lost for forty years, reveals the story of a rediscovered love nearly lost in 1999 Paris. An unforgettable romance filled with danger, intrigue, and a love without boundaries, Passions in Paris: Revelations of a Lost Diary tells the story of forbidden love, salacious adultery, cunning jealousy, and unrequited passion.

This complex and stirring story, revolving around star crossed soulmates, Canadian author Joy Wychmere, and Irish actor Cullen Malone, tells how their immeasurable love is put to the test by three vindictive people, the worst, namely Philippe Robealard, a delusional, misguided homosexual artist who is determined to make the unsuspecting actor suffer for stealing the man he loves, until he has paid in full with his life.

Joy and Cully battle through a series of misunderstanding, embarrassment, torture, and injury until Joy is left fighting to survive a direct gunshot, while Cullen is given the choice of consuming a bottle of barbiturates – certain to take his life – or lose Joy forever if he does not. If this is not enough, the trapped couple’s fate grows direr when fire is discovered raging toward them. Endurance and determination are stretched to the limit, asking if love truly can survive all odds, and time.

“Enjoyable and exciting, this is a book for people who have romance flowing in their veins.” – Maria Beltran – Readers’ Favorite

The path each person walks is entirely their own. The pitfalls along that path, as well as the way in which they are dealt with are entirely up to the individual. But Willow Sutherland-Crosby walks a far-different path, and with her own agenda.

Abuse, deception, intrigue, and a never ending quest for happiness and love – will she find these, or will her blind determination be her downfall?

The 5-star romantic fiction drama, Willow’s Walk, is a gripping new tale, certain to hold readers captive from the very first page. Set in the beautiful city of Ottawa, Canada in 2003, this touching story centers on the life and times of a woman determined to prevail at all costs, regardless of what is set before her, the result of which is certain to leave the reader reeling in its wake.

“I was touched by the bittersweeet conclusion that sometimes purpose and happiness are only found through great tragedy.” – Faridah Nassozi – Reviewer

From the author of the riveting romantic fiction-drama, Passions in Paris: Revelations of a Lost Diary, and the celebrated, 5-star award-winning romantic fiction drama, Willow’s Walk, comes the intense romantic drama, The Perils of Autumn.

This page-turner set primarily in the early 1970’s, centers on a young Kentucky woman, Autumn Leeves, born in 1946 to Abigail Leeves, an unwed mother who struggles to make ends meet. By 1970, Autumn graduates nursing school and is sent on assignment by the local hospital to care for the terminally ill wife of middle-aged English equestrian master, Cyril Landon, owner of Landon Lawns Stables, a most successful thoroughbred racing stable located just outside Lexington, Kentucky in a posh community known as The Meadows.

Duff Taylor, world renown jockey who is tops in his field, lives fulltime above the tack room at Landon Lawns and enjoys the many benefits it brings, but he also has a dark secret surrounding an unsolved racing incident from his past that he will go to any length to protect.

Autumn arrives to Landon Manor in time to be thrown into the fray and finds herself caught in the ongoing disruption that ensues.

“Romance and good writing come together perfectly in Rusty Blackwood’s The Perils of Autumn.” Ray Simmons – Reviewer
