Novelist Rusty Blackwood Shares Her July Newsletter 2019 …

Greetings Everyone!!!

Welcome to my July Newsletter 2019! I hope those reading this are managing to keep cool in the ongoing heat this month. Many places are setting record highs; then again it is July, it is expected to be hot, and it has been this way for as long as I can remember. This is what makes summer, summer, the hottest season of the four, when the heat, along with proper amounts of rain, ripen crops to be harvested when they reach fruition.

As it is summer, I don’t do public events such as signings or readings, haven’t done so in quite some time. Even writers must have downtime, holidays, and enjoyment of the season before cold and winter returns along with constant work behind one’s desk. I have been enjoying my summer thus far; thankful for air conditioning, but I also enjoy what the season offers outside my door. It brings both delight and inspiration sitting beneath a lovely shade tree during the day, listening to birds sing their lovely tunes while a refreshing breeze cools a sweat-laden brow, and evening spent listening to the nightlife in my garden. It reminds me of where I grew up and the wonderful memories I have of that time.

I must say how very proud I am of my newest romantic fiction drama, The Perils of Autumn, published by Canadian publisher, Tellwell Talent. ‘Autumn’ is a Readers Favorite Books 5-star awarded novel, and now a 2019 International Book Awards Finalist in the romance genre. The publishing of one’s work is always a step forward and it is thrilling; it also brings fulfillment after the long road traveled to bring it before readers’ eyes, however, when that same work garners attention from different areas in the publishing field, it certainly makes any obstacle in the road worthwhile enduring. The Perils of Autumn is also competing in this years Readers Favorite Annual Book Awards Contest, as well as the Best Book Awards Contest. Both well-patronized competitions are based in Los Angeles, California, and the results of both will be revealed in November.

Earlier this month I was honored to host the Blog, Coffee Time Romance & More, as their Featured Author of the Day. It was the first time I’ve ever hosted someone else’s Blog – there are times it keeps me going to keep up with my own – but I must say I enjoyed it. I always welcome new experiences for that is how one grows as a writer. The Blog is still open for comments, and you may read the article, and take part should you wish, by taking this secure link: https://coffeetimeromance.com/CoffeeThoughts/55191-2/?fbclid=IwAR0xFnX7_Ye4wGUWO7IlVBqFYyMck-1Rp6MYdW9LGMYRtVPRwfg2zIkvUpU

Interview events are always interesting to do for you never know what you are going to be asked. However, that is what makes it both intriguing, and fun. I have done several interviews and I must say I have enjoyed each one. Often the questions are the same, but when that happens I try my best to answer differently than I may have answered previously, and that can be interesting, often challenging, yet always a pleasure to undertake. My latest interview was conducted by Book Reader Magazine, and I invite you to check it out at: https://bookreadermagazine.com/featured-author-rusty-blackwood-2/?fbclid=IwAR0WDwsnQb5hteKAP0AP3Os6fpgsdarSpkQncEJzvVAQyD7SDd3ZpTD-exk

Book features are also a fantastic arena for exposure of one’s work. The Perils of Autumn has been honored this month with a couple of insightful features, beginning with the delightful Book Goodies. Do check out the interesting feature – along with an excerpt from the novel – at: https://bookgoodies.com/the-perils-of-autumn-by-rusty-blackwood/?fbclid=IwAR2Yw-gvAODmLHaHSNrJKgPaYHolyCUJumHzTp2UHVPdmQiMcvaR5EPdxqg

As many readers of The Perils of Autumn know, I am presently writing  a continuation, titled Return to Autumn, which will return you to the ongoing story at Landon Lawns Stables and the fascinating characters who live there, as well as a few new ones waiting to make your acquaintance. I am currently writing Chapter 13, and the story is progressing nicely. As it is still in first draft, I am not including an excerpt, but that will come, possibly in September’s Newsletter. My fall touring schedule is beginning to fill with signing events which I will list next month.

Along with The Perils of Autumn, I invite you to enjoy my previous works: the 4-star romantic fiction drama, Passions in Paris: Revelations of a Lost Diary, the 5-star Willow’s Walk, and my well-received, ‘Derwood Tugbottom’ adult comedy series, the latest installment, Derwood Goes Caribbean. All these titles are available at Amazon.com and Amazon.ca in both paperback, and Kindle editions.

I enjoy writing the end of month Newsletter and I hope you enjoy reading it. I do encourage interaction with me through comments, questions, or topics you may wish to discuss. Over time my mailing list has grown, and continues to do so, and there are times it keeps me hopping, but it is still a pleasure to share my news with each of you.

Do continue to enjoy the summer. Before we know it the summer will be a memory and we will be facing shorter days, cool evenings, and preparations for the long, cold winter. Maybe that thought will help cool us down in the heat, have I succeeded? I do try.

As always, support your local authors, as well as all your local talent in the Arts!

Cheers!

Rusty B.
