Welcome everyone, and Happy New Year!

Hard to believe that the end of the first month of 2019 is almost here! Before we know it, we will be at this same time next year. My lovely Mom always said that as you grow older, time goes faster. I never used to believe that, but I am starting to experience what she spoke about. However, the movement of time does not change, never has or never will, but the perception of it does. Anyway, however you are perceiving it, I hope you are experiencing it well.

This has been a most exciting month for me! I am pleased to announce the release of two new titles, the 5-star-award-winning, romance drama, The Perils of Autumn, and Derwood Goes Caribbean, the 3rd installment of my ongoing Derwood Tugbottom comedy series.

The Perils of Autumn is  fast becoming my favorite title thus far. I have always admired nurses and the compassionate journey they travel daily to help those in need. Secondly, I have always applauded single, unwed mothers from decades past; those whose daily struggle and resilience in a society that did not accept them, was a plight to be admired. Lastly, I have always adored horses; their majestic stance, their intelligence, and their stalwart loyalty to those whom manage them. I decided to combine all three of these subjects in a fictional romance drama that I set in Kentucky primarily during the early 1970’s. I applaud the main characters, those of whom I would truly love to meet if it were possible, and I hope, through reading them, you will develop a fondness for them also.

I have stated many times in the past the importance of official press releases. They not only carry announcements of a book release, but they also allow this news to spread across a nation. Do check out the official press release for The Perils of Autumn.

Derwood Goes Caribbean, is the 3rd installment in the ongoing Derwood Tugbottom comedy series centering on the antics of eccentric, retired London City Hall civil servant, Derwood Justice Tugbottom. The character of this often-over-the-top senior, came from my brother’s imagination, and because of that, I am forever beholding. Derwood has not only become extremely popular with readers, he has become a very dear character to me, one that I truly do wish I could sit down with, sip tea with, and do my best to find out what truly makes him tick. I am pleased to bring this 3rd story of the ongoing series. What started out as a silly Xmas gift, has blossomed into something both entertaining, and lovable.

Derwood Goes Caribbean is presently available in Kindle edition at amazon.com https://www.amazon.com/DERWOOD-GOES-CARIBBEAN-Rusty-Blackwood-ebook/dp/B07N5LW3TM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1548787922&sr=8-1&keywords=derwood+goes+caribbean, and amazon.ca https://www.amazon.ca/DERWOOD-GOES-CARIBBEAN-Rusty-Blackwood-ebook/dp/B07N5LW3TM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1548788010&sr=8-1&keywords=derwood+goes+caribbean

As always with a new title release, interviews of the author is a must by different media, Blogs, and online media sources, and I am always honored to be asked. I have done a few thus far for The Perils of Autumn, and these two today are from the online Media Blogs and Literary Services of Awesomegang, an internet place for authors, titles of their work, and featured interviews, and Cat’s Reading and Writing Den.  Please take these secure links:  https://awesomegang.com/?s=rusty+blackwood

We have recently been enduring a “lot” of severe cold, wind, and storm conditions clear across Ontario, as well the country in general.  Drive accordingly-heed the warnings, bundle up, and know that spring is only 49 days away. We shall make it!

As I close this first Newsletter of 2019, I wish to thank each one of you for your ongoing support of my work, and me as its author. Self-publishing authors do not have the luxury of a Standard House behind them, nor do they have readers lining up for their latest release at the book stores because they have had worldwide, high-priced announcements of their work; instead, they rely on readers such as yourselves using word of mouth, sharing news, and supporting your local authors through sales of their work. So when you see a lonely author sitting at a table in front of your local bookstore, stop and chat with them, discuss their latest title, and pick up a personally signed copy. You may find it becoming your favorite read.

And as always, support not only your local authors, but all your local talent in the Arts!

Cheers!

Rusty B.
